New TV: Sound is driving me crazy

I just bought an LG 55UJ750V and the picture is great, but the sound is very annoying. Not the normal 'adverts are louder than the program' but the music in any program is probably three times the volume of the 'quiet' voice parts. Even something like Grand Tour when they are speaking it is fine, add some music section and it becomes unbearably loud.

I've switched on/off surround sound, magic sound and played with the settings in general but can't change this. If I can't fix it, the TV will go back (thank you, CostCo)

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for any help.

No specific help, but my LG Tv also had terrible sound.
I purchased a cheap LG sound bar for about £50 at Sainsbury’s .. The sound is now a million times better.

Just buy a cheap av amp. Will sound 1000x better and they have a feature called dynamic volume that can flatten the peaks of volume. It’s meant for use at night but it’s handy for what you’re describing.

You’re using the tv sound? Of course it’s going to sound crap! Get yourself a receiver and some speakers.

When I bought a TV recently (Panasonic 40") I also got an Orbitsound One P70 soundbar. It made an amazing difference to what I could hear and dialogue is no longer lost in "background" music and sound effects.

P.S. I used to switch on subtitles for some programs to get around the hidden dialogue problem.

Sounds like you have checked, but they sometimes have a 'voice' or 'vocal' mode which will aim to make speech clearer. Otherwise if you have a dynamic range setting switch that on, it'll even out the volume changes.

To be honest though, soundbar or even a pair of PC speakers plugged into the headphone socket (if you have one) is the best way to solve the issue, and shouldn't cost much. I have not noticed the Grand Tour's sound mix being particularly dynamic, it's mixed fairly conservatively, films must be unwatch(listen)able.

I'm not sure a new TV will fix it, unless it comes with a 'built in' soundbar they are all much the same. I can vouch for the higher end LG's with built in soundbar (e.g. the OLED55E7) but it's £2.5k for the 55 inch version, and even then it only sounds 'OK' (that is loud and clear with a neutral tone), you'd still want something better for films etc.
