For Le Mans - for years we have just taken a Sky HD box and popped it on to a dish that we leave out there. Takes about 15 mins to rig the dish and connect up the box and off we go. It's a well oiled machine!

Trouble is, we've used my cousin's box and card for the last couple of years since I was banned from taking ours but he has just upgraded to Sky Q (as did I a while back) so unless we can find someone that comes with us that has, and will let us borrow, their Sky HD box/card I am a little stuck. We still have a Sky HD box and dish but no card. There is WiFi at our house but I'd prefer not to rely on that for streaming as a lot of people will be on their phones at the same time.

Can anyone offer some suggestions?

Cheers

Guy

Not unless is via a VPN.

Lots of faff.

OP, this is one (good) reason we haven't upgraded. The Sky engineer that came out to me when I moved into my house told me loads of people are going to be caught out. I believe you can take the Sky Q box, but need an appropriate LNB on the dish, and of course all those left behind have no Sky for the duration!

Quite right. Have covered that off already. Apparently said LNBs are hard to come by as well.

Not if you know who to ask.

It’s should be a straight swap on the dish as well, unless it is a non-standard / non-Sky one.

They have just started appearing in our wholesalers and we’ve had other sources as well.

Thanks Vex. Seen today they seem to be available.

I also have found that caravanners are having success with upgrading the LNB and then taking their Q boxes as they would have done with the Sky HD.

It's just the unknown element. We leave the dish in France so we wouldn't know whether it all works until we actually got there at which point, troubleshooting becomes troublesome.

Hope you well mate.

Sky Q hybrid LNBs are now available to buy, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sky-Way-Hybrid-LNB-HD/dp/...

It has 2 Q ports and 4 standard ports.

You need to connect up both LNB ports on a Q box for it to work.

Hmmmm.

I like the look of that.

I have the Sky + in the caravan at Le Mans via a Maxi View fold down satellite dish on the roof. Now if I can swap the LNB over, upgrading to Sky Q wouldn't be quite such a drama.

Sorry for the hijack.
