Folllwing on from. my previous thread, ‘upgrade hi fi’
Decided that the Yamaha as 701 will replace my present amp (nad 3130). Made an offer of £330 on the used example currently on ebay which was electronically refused instantly.
In view that these amps can be purchased new for £495 with six years warranty I would have thought £330 was about righ for a two year old example. Obviously it’s the sellers decision regarding price and I respect that.
However this raises my question, always I had a rule of thumb which is that electronic used items are worth about one third of new price, does this hold true on hi fi equipment? Exceptions for truely rare and hard to find items.

Rick at Musicraft is currently doing some silly deals on Hegel amps.
The H90 is £482.
It is regarded by many as the best sub £2000 amp on the market at £1500.
I would not even look at anything else at the moment if I had £1000 to spend.

I know I said the Yamaha, and it is great, but the H90 is a different league altogether.
Don't f
k about trying to find it cheaper, they have been getting £900 used, just buy it quickly, he has sold dozens in the last week.

Boooo—Hooooo, all sold out, but I have put my name onto the waiting list. In the meantime Rick, who I had a conversation with strongly recommended a Rotel R8 1062 amp saying it is every bit as good as the hegel. If I find a rotel I will let him know to take me off the waiting list, so it’s a case of which comes up first.

Seems to have caused a bit of a stir on PFM - reading between the lines these look like unofficial imports although no one seems to want to say it. Probably makes little difference to buyers but I'm sure there will be existing owners mighty pissed off right now!The H90 is £482.
