Hopefully the mods will let this go, as I’m not trying to profit from this!

As part of a home cinema upgrade, I have some old AV equipment (still working properly) that I’m keen to get rid off.

Ideally I’d like charity to benefit in some way - e.g. I’m sure there must be a nearby (Kent) children’s charity that could benefit from a PS4, plasma TV etc. But I don’t just want to take this to a local charity shop as I’m not sure it won’t just sit there gathering dust!

Alternatively, any PH members that want to pick up some stuff and make a donation to charity?

Please respond with ideas! Thanks.

Panasonic TH42-PW5 plasma (with wall mount but no stand)
In-focus 7210 projector & mount
Denon AVR-4306 home cinema amp
Panasonic DVD-S75 DVD player
Sony PS4
2 x Logitech Harmony 1100 programmable universal remotes plus charging stand and RF extender kits

Everything should be available to collect from next weekend!
beer
Cheers!

I'd put an ad on avforums - list it with a price but state that monies will go to the charity of choice.
A link to the charity/just giving would also help.

Yes, thanks. Some of the stuff is already on there but without much interest to date.

It’s also difficult to price this stuff and AVForums insist you put a price rather than ‘offers accepted’ or equivalent.

Hopefully there will be some suggestions on here about local charities that might benefit from some of it.

I would see where there is a local kids home, the plasma and PS4 could be seriously well received.

Problem with the charity shops is most only give 5-10p for every pound they take in the shop, the rest pays for the directors salaries.

Yep - it would be nice if there is one that a PHer is familiar with though!

I'm on the management committee of the local village hall and my wife runs a for-charity events group with most events based at the hall. We would be amazingly grateful for a projector.

Thanks - I’m keen to avoid the hassle of packaging it safely and arranging for postage, so i’ll hold off for now, but will bear you in mind. If there are no more deserving / local suggestions then it’s yours - I might be able to drop it off, the next time I’m passing in that direction.

In the meantime, any suggestions for any of the other equipment? There’s some decent optical and component leads too!

Hi, I have 2 homeless hostels in the Newcastle area (I can prove this by pm) and could give a very good home to this equipment and can pick up from Kent as I am based in Surrey

Thanks

I think the projector has already gone (above).

But you can have the PS4 and the plasma TV?

It sounds like you've got shot of everything, but if you do have anything left, you could always stick it on eBay as collection only, and set it to donate the money to charity?

Still a DVD player, Denon AMP, and 2x Logitech colour programmable remotes plus RF extenders remaining. The remotes were probably £400 each when new!

Where in Kent are you?
I’m setting up a children’s home and sure we could make use of what’s left!

Thanks

Bump!
It seems that you can’t give away stuff these days!

Are these programmable controls really worthless?
