Having purchased a used example via ebay I chanced upon a old post review from years back. Within the review it was stated that the amp cannot be powered up without the remote?
Needless to say my purchase does not include a remote.
Comments advise please.

The Rotel is a stop gap until my name comes up the order list for a Hegel 90

First port of call is the seller and ask them how they powered it up.

If you can't source an original remote there are lots of learning types out there that can be programmed with the code for your particular product - Logitech have a massive range.

The advert for the Rotel told me no remote with amp, I thought no problem. Still as you advise plenty of options open. thumbup

Still worth asking how they used it - maybe there's a work around.
I notice they have a 12v trigger - a source with this function when powered up would operate the Rotel too although you'd still need to get up to adjust volume.

Great news, thank you Tony. Looking forward to hearing my ‘new’ amp and as you suggested actually hearing my quad speakers at work properly.

Now connected up my ‘new’ amp. Decided to check the wiring and fuse in the mains plug before switching on. Pleased I did, I found the live wire and neutral connected to the wrong pins!!!! how very odd is that.
Any way connected correctly and gave the amp its first go. Whoaaaaaa! sounds a so.utely fantastic with my old marantz cd65 player and quad 21l speakers. opened up the music brilliantly and now hearing instruments on the CD tracks that I have not heard before. It is simply awesome.

Thanks to all contributors for advise and comments, my woes have been addressed for the princely sum of £236 and I get to sell my NAD now for £50 or so.

Problem I have now is I have caught the hi fi bug, can I get improvement by changing the speakers getmecoat

Take a breath, relax and listen for a few weeks before doing anything.

Enjoy.

You haven't caught the HiFi bug, but what you have done is created synergy with your various components.

Trust me, you'll "upgrade", go through the same pain again and be momentarily happy, and then upgrade and.......

Now you're happy with the sound, sit back and enjoy it, and forget about what might be.

What speakers are you currently using?
I was using a pair of b&w 602s3’s and the pairing was superb.

Demo’d a pair of Monitir Audio RX8. Sweet Jesus they could fill a room. And the Rotel had all the power to do it. I wish I never sold mine. A great a amp. Try and track down an original review from hifi choice.

I have a pair of quad 21L floor standers and as Tony suggested the amp that I was running at the time, NAD3130, could be bettered with a stronger amp. He was spot on.
Placements of the speakers yet to be completed but I am so pleased already.

Ah I had a pair of 11L’s for a while too. Great little speakers, especially the birds eye maple finish.

So you like that amp then! How did you resolve the remote problem in the end?
