Hi

I’m looking at connecting the following to a non smart (10 y/o) tv:

Sky box
Amazon fire stick
Apple TV
DVD player
Xbox

I want to do this with as few cables as possible, am I right in thinking with an AVR I’d just need one hdmi cable and power for the tv?
If the tv is upgraded later to smart then also an Ethernet cable?

I’m not so bothered about the speaker side of things, happy to use the tv for everything, but might add more at a later date.

I feel like I should know this stuff but don’t have a clue!

Cheers

If you are not going to get a speaker system, might be worth just getting a cheap HDMI switch.

Yes - AV amp will have one hdmi out to the tv and lots of ins for all your gear mentioned.

Later on, if desired, you can connect speakers to the amp.

...and for the functionality you need one of last year's models from Richer Sounds need not be expensive either.

Thanks all, Switcher should do the job, but looking at https://www.richersounds.com/tv-home-cinema/pionee... I seem to get a DAB radio for £30 compared to the cheaper version so could be worth a shout!
