Hi,

Having a few problems with my magic eye.

I have mounted a TV on the wall with all the cables embedded in the wall.

Also, i have now placed my sky+hd box in a cupbaord and wanting to connect a magic eye.

How can it be connected as it doesn't seem to be working.

I have both my Dish inputs into the sky box and my HDMI from my TV.

I have connected a IO link to my box in the IO port and my tv link to the IO link.

Do i need to have another cable going from my IO link to the TV for it to work

No, you dont need another cable up to the TV, unless you want Freeview up there.

Bring the eye out of the cabinet and place it on, in front of or under the cabinet, as long as the remote control can see it.

Have you turned on the I/O link function in the sky box, do you have a red light on the Eye junction box.

If you havent turned it on, with the cupboard doors open so you can control the Sky box, press services, then 0 0 1 Select to get into the hidden menu.

Now this is where I forget (havent done one in a while) But from memory, scroll to RF Outlets, down to RF Out Power and select to ON.

Press GREEN button to save and backup out of it.

Red led on the sky eye should now be on, and you should have control.

Hi mate,

Thanks for your reply.

I have done all that you have said and still doesn't seem to be working.

In my IO link should I have 2 cables in it?

I can only put in tv link in it and that's going into the RF IN as that's the only one it can fit in due to the correct connection type?

Thanks

No you can only have the SkyEye connected no issues.

From memory you should be connecting to RF Out, not the in. If you have the Triax version then it is the RF2 Output.

What type of Sky Eye do you have? With F connector or with IEC / TV Male & Female?

The eye that I have had a male connector on it.

As for the IO link:

RF IN is female port
RF OUT is male port

So I'm guessing I need a small converter so that I can plug my male tv link into my RF OUT ?

Yes it needs to go in the RF Out. You need one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Coaxial-Aerial-Cable-Coup...

Screwfix sell them in 10s https://www.screwfix.com/p/coaxial-cable-coupler-f...

I'm pretty sure B&Q sell them

Correct, unless you are sharing Freeview to the other TV as well, nothing goes in the RF IN port and it does not need it.

Have you deffinately saved the setting in the service menu?

Have you restarted the box, sometimes they have needed a restart to take effect.

Where are you? if local I could have a quick look.

Have you got any cable out from the eye to the tv? Could that have a short on it? Even a single strand is enough to drop the whole system.

Also, which way round are you connecting the eye part? It is easy to mis-interpret and get the wrong way round.

Why do you need a magic eye? I’ve got a similar set up and just use an IR repeater

Yep I've saved the settings in the device menu

Also, I have restarted the sky box

I'm located in Middlesbrough

Nope they is no cable going from the eye to the TV the eye is only connected into the sky box via the IO link

Don't understand the way of getting it the wrong way round as it's a circle connection

It is an IR Repeater, just without the need to a silly little IR Bug (nickname for emitter) stuck to the front of the sky box.

Have you got the magic eye the correct way around? One end goes to the Tv (so will have no connection) The other end should go into the RF out on the IO link. The magic eye should be labelled.

Post up a picture may help.
