If you want to transmit to a set of bluetooth headphones - I use a cheap bluetooth transmitter plugged into the the headphone socket:

^^^ Yep this, I've been using the Avantree aptX LOW LATENCY and it has worked perfectly fine for me.

Yes I have a transmitter but my receiver is starting to play up so I thought it would make sense to replace it with one that had the Bluetooth built in,if possible

With an AV receiver, you run the audio AND the video through it.. just use a HDMI input

I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure the pc doesn't do audio through hdmi, don't know about the other 2.
I'm probably best checking before i go any further aren't I.

This is what is confusing me,the manual for my amp.... Cambridge Audio 340R....states
"To receive audio from Hdmi sources a coaxial or optical audio connection must be made from each source"
So, it's the amp that can't handle audio over hdmi not that the sources can't send it ?
I take it all modern receivers can then ?

WAIT!

I am not sure the bluetooth on any AVR is designed to be uses as a transmitter, I thought it was for receive only.
