Tv, console and audio on a 2k budget
Discussion
Hi all, as is about to become apparent please help an idiot.
Tech has sadly passed me by but I’m
Soon to be in a position to finally update the system in the front room, it’s only small at 3mx4.9m just in case that has any bearing???
Was browsing Curry’s/PC World earlier just as a start. If i’m right? Ideally I want a 4K ultra HD QLED:OLED tv. I spotted a 55 inch, (my max) QLED Samsung that seemed to tick all my boxes for £999. The OLED I fell in love with was £1799 😮
So if that tv is ideal? That leaves me a grand and if I go for the Xbox 1 s and some decent Turtle Beach headphones I’m left with approx £600 for audio.
I really do like decent sound and have had a Bose cinemate system for a few years that has been fantastic, but is now starting to distort.
Tonight I viewed the Atmos Dolby system but it was £899. They also had a cracking Bose sound bar that was epic and a Sonos setup, both £599.
Which is my better option? Early on can just 1 soundbar give me cracking sound in the front room on its own? I’d really prefer to avoid adding additional speakers but accept that it may be inevitable. If I do have to, they have to be wireless.
I would like to be able to link the music from my phone to my home audio and this looked fine via Bluetooth on both the Bose and Sonos systems. At first it would just be the front room but I would like the option to at a later date add speakers in additional rooms so that both myself and SWMBO can listen to our own playlists at the same time, so keen to know the better system for these options?
When looking at the tv’s and audio earlier I did notice they were offering an upgrade on better cabling and connections, is this an option I should take? I don’t want to lay out 2k on a setup and later find out i’ve been let down because I scrimped on said cabling.
Any thoughts and advice would be much appreciated.

Don't be suckered into thinking QLED means anything, it doesn't really. QLED is Samsung's marketing term but the panel itself is essentially a backlit LCD screen but slightly refined, it's still backlit whereas OLED pixels emit their own light.

Don't let that put you off the Samsung necessarily, an LCD can still be a good choice but don't think it's anything other than a refined LCD.
True QLED panels are a possibility for the future but possible a way off yet.

I'm in a similarish quandry and have been looking at the Yamaha 2700 soundbar, which, at the moment, comes with an additional Yamaha wireless speaker.

Lands in your budget, and is well reviewed. The consensus, from what I can see is that the Yamaha multi-room systems are second only to Sonos.

Glad I asked, thank you both for the info and the very helpful links!!!!!
I had indeed been suckered in.
I’m prob a month or 2 off of taking the plunge but I think it will now be the OLED route that I go down for the tv.
I can up the budget a bit and keep an eye on what deals may become available for 55 inch OLED tv’s.
That Yamaha setup is very appealing and the right price, I will prob pop upto Richer sounds in the very near future for a listen as the reviews are very good.
Yesterday when looking I really did like the look of the new Bose soundbar and the Sonos soundbase system, both in the £599 bracket.
Both sounded great as stand alone but I noticed that if I wanted to add the relevant subs at a later date it’s another decent chunk of money, I wouldn’t have that issue with that Yamaha setup 👍
