I'm sure I used to be good at cables etc. Too many kids now head's run out of space.

So.. we've moved house. Previous people had a really neat setup not a single cable on show. Lovely. They asked if I wanted them to fill in the channel & holes etc I asked them to leave so I can use. Now I'm stuck. Before I get the wrong cables & boxes.. advise appreciated.

Setup is TV is up on the wall now, then below it a unit with PS, DVD, Humax PVR, and soundbar. The channel that runs behind the wall is quite slim I think wont cope with that many cables. I thinking an hdmi swticher to lessen the no. of cables running behind the wall. At the mo all cables are dangling around on show.

Now I'm stuck. Thinking of something like this and plugging the devices into it. So far so good I think.

Telly has an ARC hdmi port, soundbar has hdmi in, and an ARC one too.

Is it possible with this box & the right leads to have just a single Hdmi going to the TV? And for all devices & the telly to send sound to the soundbar? It's the audio that I'm not sure about. At the mo, the soundbar is connected direct to the TV - but this means another cable which I think is a no go.

Just to add I've noticed the soundbar also has digital audio in as well.

Ok, so basically Yes.

Use the switcher to select you source, feed that to the sound bar, the sound bar to tv’s ARC hdmi.

Or

Switcher direct to tv and the digital/Optical our from tv to soundbar.

You don't need to spend anything like that on an HDMI switch. I have a similar setup but using a projector and an HDMI switch from the projector through the ceiling to this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01EHP5CMY/ref...

All the devices (sky Q, amazon firestick, Wii, Blueray, and a Mac mini media centre) plug into the HDMI switch and sounds goes from that via an optical cable to a 5.1 surround system. The whole lot is controlled by a single logitech harmony remote. The HDMI switch works faultlessly.

Sounds like the OP has bought one now anyway.

Yes I have got one. Took 2 goes to get it right though! The first was TINY and the LEDs so small hard to see what was active.
Latest one lovely, quite heavy, metal case, nice clicky button. LEDs clear but not too bright which is what I was after too.
