Long time lurker I know but love the site, hoping for some help on TV replacement.

Have a Samsung UE40H6400 that JL say is beyond economical repair needing a new panel (2nd in 3months). So have £379 (Black Friday 3+ yrs ago) to go towards new TV in JL, pref bigger than 40". Any suggestions please?
Understand will need to topup to around 500-550. My quick thoughts were:
Samsung UE49MU6400,
Panasonic TX-50EX700B,
Samsung UE49MU7000,
Hisense H50N6800

Thanks in advance.

Sources - Mainly YouView (may upgrade to Ultra box) live and catchup services plus some BluRay/DVDs from Sony BR player. Also PS4 for occasional games. Mainly SD viewing - HD for sport/movies/catchup apps where supported.
Viewing distance - Min 1M, Max 3M. Have 2x sofas opposite each other & tv at end close to wall, so approx. 30 deg. max angle from both sofas.
Looking for bigger screen to maybe 50" max. and better black handling than current - dark movie scenes very grainy/blocky on all sources.

John lewis have a good range and decent support.

Personally I'd stick with Samsung and make sure you get one which is 4K & HDR compatible for future proofing.

TVs are a very subjective thing however, all have their flaws and characteristics so what I like might not be what you like. You really need to go and have a look at them in store to draw up a short list.

Seems decent for the price but whatever you buy will be out of date and half the price by the time you've got used to it.smile

Update question:
Been to JL to look for replacement TV.
Narrowed down to LG 49UJ670V IPS or Panasonic 50EX700B LED.
Panasonic looks nice but LG seems to tick more boxes in terms of OS, smaller depth stand.
Just wondered if any glaring reason I should NOT go for this? Thanks

IPS panels tend to have a reputation for poor contrast and lack of uniformity but I wouldn't let that put you off if you're personally happy with the Picture. The LG seems to tick all the boxes and they're a decent make.

Thanks for replies - quick update - looked at both instore and Panasonic seemed a better picture, and has all the catchup/apps we need, and looks & feels more premium, so went for that.
Very pleased so far.
