Standalone 5.1 Speaker Amplifier Advice.
Discussion
I currently have a 5.1 sound system liked up to my projector system. Its about 7 years old now and is effectively a 3d DVD/ BlueRay player with a built-in amplifier/speaker support.
After adding a PS4/ Xbox/ SkyBox and Amazon Box over the years, the sound set up has become a bit of a challenge for the rest of the family ,when switching between input systems.
I want to drop the DVD box as the main driver/amp for the wired in speakers and replace it with a standalone 5.1 Amplifier fed from an HDMI Sound scraper box, that I can switch between the various systems via a remote control (I already have the scraper).
Does anyone have a similar set up and/or another sound system solution that doesn’t involve wireless sound-bars?
(I don’t want to go mad with cost as that room is being ripped apart next year as part of a building extension

All your inputs into the Denon. One out to the projector.

To make it super family friendly add a Harmony Hub and an Echo Dot.
Alexa play PS4
Alexa play Xbox
etc. etc.

Awesome.
I replaced a similar set up with s cheap Sony 5.1 amp off eBay, it had 4 HDMI inputs. Cost me a tenner plus p&p.
The sub was passive so bought a cheap mono amp off Amazon for about a tenner, used an old laptop charger to power it and an old plastic box to house the circuit board.
I reused two of the old speakers as they were 8 ohm plus a pioneer centre and surround speakers I had lying about bought from richer sounds years ago for 15 quid.
Does the job for my uncultured ears

I have a very similar situation and use a Denon avr x1200W for the hub of the system and its great - everything is just plugged into it and then sent via single HDMI to the TV.
Sound is great even though its lower powered and using cheap speakers - thats the next task, upgrade speakers and try to subtly integrate the 7.2 capability
