A Samsung D8000, one of these.

It was working fine yesterday. Today when I turned on Sky Q, the picture came on momentarily, and then the TV went in to stand by.
I tried the same thing with the Blu-Ray player, and exactly the same thing happened. The same also thing happens when you select the Smart Hub (iplayer etc....)

Does anyone have any idea what the fault may be? If it were a lesser TV I'd chuck and replace, but it cost us a small fortune new.

Assuming a hard reset isn't resolving the issue, I would guess an issue withe the graphical processor or motherboard. Is it under warranty? If so raise a claim; otherwise you might want to start looking for TV repair specialist.

TY. All now resolved. Apparently it was down to a firmware issue. After an extremely trying chat with a Samsung support lass, in god knows what country, she said she thought it was a firmware issue. I finally got the TV to recognise the USB stick with the firmware I'd downloaded on it. I was told (really firmly) do not cut the power to the TV whilst it's downloading....... 'downloading 35%' then STANDBY again. 'Oh crap' I think, that shall have buggered it. Got the TV back on, no info box, it turned off again, then back on, to see a message 'download complete'.

I thought, 'no, it can't be THAT simple....' plugged the SKY Q back in, turned on, result, it's working!

A good outcome. I'd 15 minutes earlier spoken to a Samsung repair agent, who had advised it was either the main board (£65 call out + £310) or the screen (£65 call out + £720)

Make sure your software/firmware updates are set to Automatic is the lesson learned. Now to check the smaller one of the same model out the back is set as such.....!
