Afternoon All

My daughter turns 5 next week and I`m after a stereo for her birthday.

Something she can carry outside etc, so battery as well as mains powered.

Needs to have CD player and bluetooth so she can pair her iPhone/Kindle to it.

Doesn`t need to be epic, but something quite nice would be good.

Budget up to £65 ish

My missus bought some horrific Goodmans? crap from Argos, which sounded awful and was promptly returned.

Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations?

Cheers in advance

Dave

No CD player (do kids still do CD's? - rip them to iTunes maybe) but this is a good portable bluetooth speaker.

Do grown-up's still do CD's?
I've heard good things about UE portable speakers so that looks to me to be a good shout.

Can you get a secondhand soundlink mini for that? /thread

Edit - apparently not! Ebay suggests they have better residuals than a gt4!

Thanks for the replies

Yes it does need a CD player in it unfortunately (school CDs etc)

Yeah, we have a Soundlink, which she regularly nicks, hence getting her her own, which will live in her room mainly, or get dragged to her tree/play house.

and yes, she does drop it hehe

(good job its rubber coated and splash proof!)

I started a thread on this same subject in Computers, Gadgets and Stuff and then realised afterwards due to lack of interest it should probably have gone in here! biggrin

Edited to add the OP is specifically looking for a CD player too, so our dilemma is slightly different.

Same (similar) dilemma too. I hate buying crap. I don't want to buy a cheap top loading portable CD player covered in Hello Kitty that looks like it came straight from the 90s. I don't have any music on CD anyway.

I've toyed with the idea of the smaller Makita portable radio (DMR200) but it looks like it's primarily designed to stream over bluetooth which I don't want. Unless I've missed something in the specs? Plenty of other bluetooth speakers available if this was my goal, even though the Makita would be great for me to ahem... share too. ;-)

Essentially I want to pre-load an SD card or USB stick with a small selection of music, my daughter can't read yet but she's quite capable of pressing play/stop/next/back/volume, etc. So physical buttons for these please. Rugged if possible.
