TV wall bracket-is there such a thing for me

Having decided to go big & cheap, the wall at new place has holes for what I presume was a fitted wall bracket once upon a time.
The odd thing is the 4 holes are all in a vertical line,and seem to be just lined with plastic.
Is this a new way of mounting TVs on walls, as the ones Im used to have 4 holes in a square pattern?
If so can anyone suggest a suitable one that will fit the holes

I would hazard a guess that the 4 in a vertical line are screwed into the baton behind the plasterboard and then used a vertical bracket with a pivoting VESA mount attached to the front of it and mounted their TV to that.

Something like this perhaps?

That might well be it,although the wall is solid,with stone look tiles on it.
So that bracket won't be big enough to hold a 65" TV,but as i don't need it to swivel I wonder if there is a similar Mount that has big horizontal bars...I doubt it

Type in 'tv wall mount bracket' into Amazon and there are loads to choose from but the vertical only ones don't seem to go above 55" size. There's a couple of vertical ones that do support 65" but they have horizontal 'wings' at the top and bottom of the bracket which I don't know if they're there just for lateral stability or whether they have fixings in the wing sections. The illustrations don't say but I would think they do have fixings in them.

If you're seeing plastic in the holes then they'll probably be rawl plugs so that the screws (or more precisely, the plastic of the rawl plugs) can bite on the stonework when screwed in. Not using them on a solid wall is a quick way to see your telly in a heap on the floor.

Our old (pre-LED backlight) TV is 40” but mounted quite securely in one of the Amazon 4-hole mounts, this is into brick, but I’d be surprised if there was much weight difference between ours and a newer 55”+? Worth checking the weight limits rather than size

To answer your questions.

Regarding the holes layout....
The holes, as mentioned above, are from a cantilever / full motion bracket.
Some of these are poorly designed, having fixings in only one plane!


Regarding the plastic lined holes....
Rawl plugs are the only way of mounting things like metal frames to masonry.
They are over one hundred years old, so no, not a new idea. There will be dozen of them all over your house.
If you’ve never seen them before, I would suggest, mounting your massive TV to the wall, isn’t the time to learn / practice!


Regarding using the same holes.....
You need a bracket that is different in design, so there is zero chance of finding a slim/flat bracket to use the same holes.
New bracket = drilling new new holes.

Best enlist anyone you know with a drill and some experience of such things.
Then you’ll be sure it is now, and will remain, safely attached
