A common enough question although it seems to have been a while since one at this price level was asked and answered. I'm still happy with the trusty 9 year old 40" Samsung C series that I have but I fancy a bit of an update.

Sitting distance is about 6' but I do like the look of a big telly and the lounge can handle it.

Rest of setup is due an upgrade over time (sony 5.1 receiver, NOT 4k) but just looking at the box for now.

Something like this has caught my eye:

Pros/Cons anything to look out for? OLED is out of budget for now, only requirement from the Mrs is that the menu is quick to navigate (our bedroom budget TV can be painfully slow at times!)

Is there any mileage is having a sticky wiki for this type of question; maybe 'budget', £500, £1,000, £2,500 and up?

I'm looking to replace my recently expired TV (which was only about five or six years old grumpy) at a similar price to OP.

Currently leaning towards Philips 50PUS6703, but not viewed one yet. Richer SOunds doesn't have one locally, though they have the 43".

The Philips PUS7303 is worth considering, better backlighting and android OS so you can add apps.

It was £300 more, but seems there is little in it now price wise.

...still £200 more expensive, which I can't justify. Thanks though. thumbup

Was going to recommend Celcus, but Sainsbury's have stopped selling TV's now and I don't see where Celcus TV's are sold now. Which is a shame, as I paid £170 for my 42" LED TV and it gives a picture on par (or better sometimes) than my £600 48" Samsung LED TV.
