I have a small dedicated TV room (c. 3m x 3m), and want to improve the sound experience. Currently only listening through the TV speakers, hence the reason why I want to improve.

I like the look of Sonos Beam, and swaying towards one in front of the TV, and two play one's behind the sofa in the corner of the room- i particularly like the wireless connection capability.

Does anyone have any experience of the Sonos kit in this instance, and will the play ones be deemed overkill?

Thanks,

Dan

The Beam and Play 1 pair will be a great combo for your sized rooms. As long as you’re after a general surround, rather than all the latest processing (although that would be more involved and expensive)

A pair of Play 1 is not overkill at all!
They are £139 each and can be used as a stereo pair, or single zones elsewhere in the home, should you change your mind.

Go have a listen in a shop somewhere. Just call and tell them what you want and when you’ll be there.

A beam and two Play 1s should be quite nice.

We have overkill... playbar, sub and two Play 5s.

Sonos kit is good, easy to use and pretty flexible (we use it for music as well) - but it’s not the last word in surround sound.

If you go this route don’t waste money on the newer Ones and go for the cheaper play1 instead , the only advantage of the One is Alexa and it gets turned off if you use the ones as surround speakers.
Also if you go the whole hog and get play5 (as I. Did) they switch the anolouge input off whicj has pissed me right off

... and the Alexa ones aren't FULL Alexa either.

Look at eBay... second hand Sonos kit seems to hold its money as well - so even if you change your mind, you should be OK to get 95% of your cash back.

I can confirm this disappointment.

No Calling/Drop-in
Won't read audio books by voice command - had to be forced through the audible app
Doesn't respond to voice at all once your music passes a certain level.

Also, keep an eye out for offers.

There are discounts on Play:1's at the moment, £20 from memory, and either £40 or £50 on a pair.

Offers other Sonos gear may or may not appear closer to Christmas.
