Splitting sky feeds
Discussion
Apologies for what may be a stupid question and a stupid idea...
I have the two sky feeds coming in on the ground floor into the main sky Q box. Sky isn't used in the room it comes in and I want to move the main box to the living room on the 1st floor to free up a mini box for elsewhere. My idea is to try use the existing coax aerial cables which are already neatly hidden in the walls - there is a point in both rooms and both cables meet at the aerial in the loft where they could be joined instead of going into the aeriel effectively giving a single coax cable from where the sky feed comes into the house to the living room.....
I believe sky feeds are just standard coax with F connectors instead of the TV type, so would it work if I put a sky splitter on the dual feed from the dish into a single coax then back out the coax into another splitter to dual feed the box?

The cable is technically the same however you can’t just split it you would need a DA.
If you are not sure call your local TV aerial installer. He should be able to complete the work.
TV installers have suggest throwing a cable over the roof, down the side of the house then drill through then going messy internally - not happening. Happy to run twin coax through ceilings and walls if required but wondering if a existing single coax could split to double at both ends.If you are not sure call your local TV aerial installer. I think you're confusing everyone by using the term splitter. It sounds like you are trying to combine the two Sky cables in the living room so you can use the single cable into the loft, join this to the single cable to the first floor & then split this into two on the first floor.
You can't do this using ordinary splitter/combiners but there may be some box of tricks someone has invented to get round the issue.

On reading a bit further I hadn't realised that the Sky Q LNB signal is different to the old Sky HD arrangement. This page does talk about how SkyQ can run down a single cable:
https://www.smartaerials.co.uk/blog/sky-q-with-one...
However it describes two ways of achieving this: one using a dSCR Multiswitch is the standard way of supplying satellite receivers (basically a small box which takes in the cables from the dish LNB & has single cable outputs to each SkyQ box) ( https://www.satshop.co.uk/skyq-dscr-multiswitch ) & one using a device called a dSCR LNB which seems to combine the functions of the LNB & the Multiswitch. This might solve your problem, the issue being I cannot find one of these mythical devices in a quick web search. Maybe you could ask the Smart Aerials guy for some links.

Thanks! will look into it in the morning...Def think im asking the wrong thing....https://www.smartaerials.co.uk/blog/sky-q-with-one...

DSCR Lnb fitted to the dish with a new cable run from dish to the loft. Connect to the single cable to desired room in the loft. Move the Q box upstairs to the new room, also worth changing the coax plug TV outlet to a F type socket. Connect Q box and change to SCR LNB mode. Power on and off and bobs your uncle.

Additional sky q mini boxes are £99 with no monthly subscription. Wouldn't it be easier to order an extra one?
First Sky Q Mini box is £20 self install and if you have Sports or Cinema then you can even get the Sky Q Multiscreen for £6pm instead of £12. Subsequent mini boxes are £79 as sky get no extra income from each box.Sky Q 1TB box supports two mini boxes max (watch on one mini at any one time) and 2TB boxes support up to four mini boxes (watch on two)
Having just reread the OP’s post Sky will book a Sky Q relocate for you free of charge if you ask them. Saves a lot of hassle.
