Is my Samsung TV dying?
Discussion
I’ve got a 55” LED Samsung (around 8 years old), over the last week or so this large opaque black bar is intermittently appearing over the top half of the screen. At present it only seems to appear via the PlayStation - which would suggest the hdmi cables. However, once it appears, if I change channel it’s still there.
Within the black bar there appears to be a degree of ‘pick up’ from the previous channel - like it’s burnt into that part of the screen. There’s also a few vertical lines.
Turning the TV on and off sorts it for an hour or so. Any thoughts on what it could be? If any of that makes sense.

I had a new curved Samsung 4K TV, after a few months it developed a slightly dimmer area about 15cm high across the entire screen. At first it was almost ignorable but it got worse then better with each use until I thought I'd get it sorted via Currys. Currys didn't want to know but the Samsung warranty people were great. They sent an Engineer out to replace the screen itself (I thought they'd just replace the whole TV).
It fixed it.
It may be simply coincidence that it appears when using you console, it may be early stages of this fault I had. It was something to do with the connections at the edge of the screen not being soldered (?) correctly. The net effect was a dim band across the screen that was more noticeable on some TV channels than others.
