I'm looking into getting one of these soon as the UHD discs are coming down in price slightly.

I have a lot of blue-ray films though.

Is there much difference between playing them on a UHD player over a standard blue-ray player?

Thanks

They upscale very well. Even a classic dvd will look good on a decent uhd player.

But I would jot say the cost of the software is coming down. £20 is the basic price now for decent movies.

DVDs look better on my 4K Blu-ray player which does the up-scaling than, coming from a DVD player and letting the amp or TV up-scale.

Can't see much of a difference with a blu ray played on my PS3 vs my 4K player up scaling it so no real point unless you need anew player in my opinion. If you're in the market for a new Blu-ray player then unless there's a serious budget constraint it doesn't make sense not to get a 4K one.
