Sound bar recommendations
Discussion
I bought my elderly mother a 55" Sony tv last year. I thought the sound would be pretty good as its newer than my Panasonic but the sound isnt great. I guess they are so thin that getting decent speakers inside is hard. Can anyone recommend a sound bar around 200 quid ish. She only watches soaps etc so thundering sound not major.
Having had - and sold - two soundbars, I ended up with a soundbase as a temporary measure and it is better than both previous soundbars, IMO, and doesn't have the side-effect of blocking the remote from the telly.
And now the crunch, especially for audiophiles, as it's a Goodmans...and it cost <£80
If all you need is bigger, clearer sound with a decent bass, see if you can get a demo somewhere.

Also interested in the Polk solution. Yamaha yas201 iirc with sub and bar has been great in the old house but this one with higher ceilings and L shaped lounge makes the sound seem dull and lifeless.
Voices in TV program or dialogue heavy films have me reaching for the volume untill the background music is too loud.
Don't really want wires unless avoidable. Need sub as love a punchy baseline and thumping film audio but equally need something better than we have but for less than the Sonos setup that the missus seems convinced is the answer.
I don't have a grand to spend. 500 tops.
