My tv has decided it doesn't like the internet any more. Particularly Amazon Prime and Netflix. It goes through all the motions on Prime, to the point where you press watch now it momentarily buffers, then says 'Content Error'. On Netflix, it won't even connect, red screen with Netflix logo, then 'Can't connect.

I have reset the router, reset the tv. Logged out of Prime and Netflix, checked the connection to the internet, set up my phone as a hotspot and connected to the internet that way. All to no avail.

It's not my subscriptions, because last night I watched The Grand Tour by screen mirroring it from my phone. And I can watch Netflix via Sky Q.

The tv is about six or seven years old and has been faultless up until now. Do you reckon it's the internal Wi-Fi that's thrown it's teddies? Despite all the software being up to date and it telling me it's all working fine? If that is the case, can I circumvent the internal Wi-Fi receiver by plugging in something externally? I don't really want to screen mirror everything, or buy a new telly!

Amazon firestick into a USB slot. You'll probably find it improves the quality of the watch too.

Same TV, same problem. Amazon Prime loads and starts playing, but keeps buffering. I can watch with no problems on my laptop and stream it to the TV though.

Have you tried an ethernet cable between the TV and router / access point /extender, etc ?

Mine is connected with cable directly to the router

My 4 year old Sony is a beautiful thing but just not very smart compared to our other Samsung's in the house

Would an Amazon fire stick really improve the service ? They do seen relatively cheap.

There's a known issue with Bravia Tvs losing their 'smartness'. As said above get an Amazon firestick, job done.

Reboot the TV, and see if it helps. Hold the power bottom on the remote down for 5-10 seconds until the TV tells you it’s shutting down. It’ll start up again, and all should be fine - at least, this is what I do with my Bravia whenever it starts to misbehave, and it’s worked so far. smile

A friend of mine contacted me just last night as his Sony devices have started doing exactly the same thing. Other forums are reporting the same issue so it looks like something has gone wrong somewhere.

So maybe not the TV per se.

I think, it recently decided to do a software update. It might be connected.

I've just been told that this is now working again, possibly an issue with Amazon content delivery to the Sony server which is now resolved.

The Sony support website is pretty good about documenting problems.

https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/article...

and there's a forum
