Just got a pair of new wireless Samsung Galaxy Earbuds for running/gym listening but by god their crap.

I wasn't expecting much but their not exactly cheap and even an old pair of wired sennheiser CX400s blow them away. No bass at all and using them on anything other that an equaliser bass boost setting is just screechy. I'm really shocked at how bad they are, they sound like a £6 wired set!

Are there any true wireless buds that sound at least ok without spending mega £££ ?

Anker Sound Buds, Amazon sell them.
Under £20.00 and my pair are used daily for 5/6 hours at work and are now 2 years old.
I bought another pair 6 months ago so I wouldn't be without any when they broke.
Still going strong.

Not budget but I went for the Bose sound sport free. Great sound and don't fall out when running.

My Jabra Elite 65t are brilliant. Think they set me back around £110. There's a sport version too.

The gadget show on c5 did a group test on these last night. I think the b & o ones won it.

If I was buying today I think I'd go for the Jabras.

I have a pair of Sony WF-1000X, get a lot of use in the gym and I really like them but the battery life on the Jabras would probably swing it for me now. When I bought the Sony's they were pretty cheap on eBay for new ones, I think EE were giving them away with contracts.

Interesting that you say the Galaxy Buds have no bass as a few reviews say that they bass is good, however in general the reviews seem to be a bit all over the place with them; some like them, some don't, some say they are average.

I'd go got the Jabra's myself if I was after a pair as the reviews seem to be universally great, unfortunately I struggle with in ear buds, I just can't seem to find any that stay in comfortably.

Not for gym use here - but toying with Apple EarPod things to alleviate the phone holding for calls.

Any good ? Or style over substance

Not having had wireless earbuds before I didn't really know what to expect from them. I read some of the positive reviews too and thats why I was supprised with the poor sound quality although everything else about them seems good quality and they fit me well.

I found this what hifi review of them after i posted here and have to agree with their opinion on the sound

I'm not a huge bass lover but at least want to hear it if its supposed to be heard.

I have these, they're absolutely fantastic. Great sound, they don't move when running and also somehow manage to sound great whilst allowing you to hear noises around you, which is ideal when out running in the countryside. Possibly the best gadget I've purchased in years, I've had them for a good 6 months now and still love them.

I'm also in the market for some purely wireless ear buds, as the music at the gym is atrocious and I can't be doing with any sort of cables while exercising.

Have tried the Bose Soundsport at John Lewis a few months ago and was very impressed, but would still like to weigh up other options if there's anything better value..

I've got the Sennheiser Momentum Free ones which are my go-to, all-purpose headphones. I picked these over the Soundsports largely because the audio quality seemed noticeably better.

All the Amazon reviews for the Momentum Free say they cut out in gym use, but mine don't. I have replaced the hard plastic earbuds with spares from my Sony MDR-EX650s which are infinitely more comfortable.

Those aren't fully wireless.

They're now doing the true wireless which are getting good reviews.

Still think I'd be looking at Jabra.

Creative have the Outlier Air which are new too. Massive battery life. Quite tempting.

In fact I am pretty sure I will buy a pair of the Creatives.

After the taking advice from this thread I bought the Jabra Elite 65T Active buds.

The sound compared to the Galaxy Buds was a great improvement and they seemed a quality product.
Unfortunately the conectivity was poor. With my phone in my chest pocket and about 2ft from the right(master) bud I could turn my head 30 degrees to the right and they disconnected!
There on their way back to Amazon now rolleyes

Good. Well worth 30 quid. Used them for 4/5 runs now for 1hr. Surprisingly decent base on them too. I bought another set of wired recently for back up / when I miss-place a set and the wire is frigging annoying!
