Hi all. I have a problem with some lip syncing on my cars tv screens in the back for the kids.

Is there a magic box which will receive input from HDMI, then split the audio out to Bluetooth and pass through the video to HDMI? Then the most important thing is some kind of +\- audio control? Would be helpful if it was usb powered as it’s for the car.

Thanks all.

What source are you trying to watch on the screens?

There are devices about to extract audio, but they normally convert the sound to optical or analogue. Im not sure if adding in bluetooth would help with the delay

You could try something like this

and take the analogue output to the input of the car stereo. Being analogue the sound should be fairly instantaneous, but there may still be lag.

For all the mucking about it may be simpler to get a couple of cheap tablets, some bud headphones and a headrest tablet holder.

Yeah the car only has Bluetooth input for audio (no 3.5mm or anything else). Thanks for the advice though you might be right

If you can get a converter that splits the audio out to Phono or 3.5mm then this will transmit via Bluetooth

The problem will be that the processing delay would be long (in electronic terms) cause more audio/lip sync issues

HDMI break out from Video Source.
Bluetooth input / encode in Hifi
Bluetooth receive and decode on headphones

Is there not a setting in the source equipment that will change the delay

I think I’ve misled you. The problem is the lip synch issue. I already have Bluetooth audio. Therefore wanting a ‘box’ which is controllable so as to artificially delay the video to allow the audio to catch up

That’s the rub, video delay is expensive and awkward to do outside of the box that generated it.

How are you sending the video to the screens?

Is the software built in, I ask as if you're using something like VLC as a media player, it has audio retard and advance options?

It’s via an Apple TV 4th gen but streamed from my iPhone. I guess I could use VLC but then things like BT sport etc can’t be played and I’m fixed to local storage rather than live stuff
