Wall TV and Connections
Discussion
Any help appreciated,
Got a room i'm redoing, plan is to put a wall TV on the chimney breast and the AV stuff on a rack next to the chimney breast. Obviously I don't want any wires showing so I wanted to know, is it best to just get a pipe where the TV will be to the side of the CB and that way the only wires can be coming out the side and therefore very insignificant OR do I get a couple of AV faceplates and make it look slick?

You could look at the Samsung QLEDs which only have one very thin wire connecting power and data from the screen, as all the TV and connection stuff happens in a breakout box about the width of your regular Hi Fi component (though much less deep).
They are also excellent TVs so you're not compromising there.

Network, power and HDMI should do you for the foreseeable future.
However there's no guarantee that they won't come up with another standard in a year or two to boost equipment sales.
I wall mounted on plasterboard with a brush plate top and bottom. Pulled through cables and left a bit of string in there with enough length top and bottom to pull more in either direction.

I'f you're plastering then putting a plastic pipe in to aid pulling cables through is a good idea.

First of us I'd just make sure your TV isn't going above a fire there's so many sites about why it's bad for you looking at the TV.
Then if the that's ok and plan to replaster I'd chisel out and put trunking in and as others have said string to pull through new cables then plaster over it. I did this 4 months ago and love the look of it now.
This is how mine is looking now.

I like van damme blue 2.5mm - but it may be cost prohibitive if you need alot (if you have very long runs then look at 4mm).
A lot of the cheaper speaker cable available is CCA - copper clad aluminium, van damme is pure copper.
You may however not be able to hear a difference between pure copper and CCA!
Banana plugs are worth getting to avoid a stray piece of copper causing a short - I usually use the audiovisual online ones - 4 for £5

I fall into that camp - I have 25m+ runs from Speakers to Amp (which i under the stairs) and it all sounds entirely effective to me. Pretty sure mine is 2.5mm on top of being CCA A lot of the cheaper speaker cable available is CCA - copper clad aluminium, van damme is pure copper.

When I bought it all the cost for 150m+ of pure copper stuff was eye watering.
