Short version is that I have been given a functional pair of 1970s Bang and Oulfsen Beovox 3720 speakers, as per the picture below.
They came with a pair of custom made stands, made by the donor, who purchased the speakers from new.

Whilst they've been looked after, they're now a bit scruffy and the plan is to aim for piano black, or as close as I can get.
The back panels, (visible ) will be painted a similar matt black as they currently are.
One of the front grilles comes off easily, whilst the other feels superglued on. They'll both be coming off at some point, but are staying on during painting.

They've already been sanded with 180 grit in the photo, and they'll be done with 240 between coats.
I'm quite prepared to do this slowly to get the desired result, with plenty of flatting down between coats of paint.

What is the best spray paint to achieve my desired look? Recommendations please.

No idea about the paint, but get the grills off first. A lot of the B&O speakers used foam surround on the cone drivers. If this is rotten, which is almost certain get it repaired first. Dome driver should be OK.
I don't know this particular model but some of the old B&O stuff was actually quite good.

Update time!

Renovations finished.
My main piece of advice for anyone trying to achieve piano black finish on a similar project, is buy something already with it! laugh

I have spent many, many hours and more money than the speakers are worth, trying and failing to achieve this.
What I should have done, is hand paint the front and rear baffles in satin (which I did do), but just sand and re-oil the top, bottom and sides.

One of the covers was effectively (but messily) glued down, which required much additional work, but the drivers and surrounds are in good order. I suspect at least one pair of driver has been replaced at some point.

Apologies for sideways pic - original was in portrait mode...

They look very nice. I have an identical pair that I am in the process of restoring too. I need to replace the foams, which I've done in the past with a pair of Beovox S35, it is a bit fiddly and requires some time and patience but a new baby means I have neither of those at the moment! I plan to just go over the cabinets with some teak oil afterwards to keep them looking original.

They will be paired up with my 1972 Beomaster 3000-2 which is almost mint and has recently had an electrical overhaul, and a Beogram 3000 which still needs some professional attention.
