Hi Folks

Can someone kindly advise regarding their broadband experiences with sky and/or virgin?

In your opinion which one provides the best value for money?

Thanks

I've been with Sky for years and had very few problems. On our local FB group people are always seemingly having problems with Virgin broadband yet I rarely (if ever) see anyone asking if anyone else has issues with their sky broadband.

In the Which? 2019 survey - of the 12 major ISPs, Virgin were 8th and Sky 11th.

Both scored 2 out of 5 for value for money.

Is your Openreach line any good? If yes, badged as Sky it will be the same as the other Openreach offerings
If it’s rubbish, Virgin will be far superior, as is the case with me

We had sky/plusnet and all the cheapies on the openreach network and it wasn’t until I went with an independent isp that used openreach that I really found out how bad the cheapies really are.

Sky runs on Openreach as do a the others except Virgin.

I've had Virgin in three places and Openreach in four.

I had more drop outs with Virgin but it's so much faster there really is no comparison.

I have Virgin here and am very happy with the reliability with it.
I get more than the advertised speed, and it rarely goes down. I did have a problem with dropouts a while ago, but this was completely resolved by a tech coming round and tightening every connection on my Router and my Virgin STB's, they seem quite sensitive to noise.

My street/area is pretty low density though, and that usually has an effect on speed.
