So many variations, models, opinions. Wife is getting sick lol. I have been very close to buying something and then seen something which could be better

Budget is from 500-1.1k for a 65 inch. If its curry's or argos I get a further 8% discount on top.

Basically want full array If possible and low dimming with the best picture possible. QLED or OLED, or dare i say LED.

Saw this In curry's today:

https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-and-home-entertai...

But then I saw the Sony and Panasonic LEDs eitherside of it and they looked better picture wise in comparison and we're significantly cheaper.

I'm a Samsung we at heart. But have seen some spectacular LG displays.

I’d trade the size with the picture quality the OLED will give you.

Miles apart in overall quality.

So would you say the 65inch Sammy OLED or the 55 inch Philips OLED?

That Philips looks fantastic and the Ambilight series did appeal. But I have been programmed that LG and Samsung are the leaders.

Ambilight is best avoided, as it reduces on screen contrast and distracts from the content. The opposite of what they say it does really!

Samsung only made LCD screens. It is very old technology, but does look good these days, if budget is tight, then not problem. They can’t share panels with LG, like Pana and Sony do.

If somebody tells you there is an LED or QLED screen, then they really mean it’s an LCD.
LED and QLED are not types of screen, so best not worry too much about those acronyms. Strictly marketing to confuse the unwary!

The issue is, now Samsung have ‘invented’ the fake QLED thing, the’ve raised their prices, so people think they are premium products. So you can’t really buy them at the same level as Sony and Panasonic products. It’s a shame (sham)

Panasonic and Sony have the best pictures though. Along with LG, they also sell OLED screens, which are better.
They cost more then LCD though, so no need to worry about 65” OLED models.

The TV in your link above, is a poverty spec screen, made especially to lure people with on paper spec.
They have a super low bill of parts and really high retail margins. Supermarkets and major chains sometimes have these cheap agreed margin products produced, so they don’t have to compete on price. Buyer beware!

I had exactly the decision to make as you and I finally bought a tv on friday. I had fully intended to buy a Samsung but when I went to curry's, the picture quality was awful when compared to then Sony's and lg's. I ended up going for a 65 inch Sony xg87.

I have a Panasonic 42 inch plasma and it's got a brilliant picture and has been faultless over the last 10 years si I had to buy something with as good a picture or better
