denon avr-x3500h with Sky Q
Discussion
Hi All,
I have just replaced my ageing Pioneer VSX-920 to a Denon avr-x3500h. I am unable to get the Sky remote to switch on & off the amp like I could with my Pioneer. The most I can get it to do is the volume. Sky Q doesn't have this model listed and I have been through the tedious task of trying all 24 options available.
I am also having issues, where it take a while for the TV to detect the video (sound comes through right away). Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,

I have the same combo, but rely on HDMI CEC signals from the TV to turn off the amp and control the amp’s volume (I have Sky routed via the amp to the TV). That way a long press on the Q remote power button turns off the TV, and that turns off the amp.
I also find there’s a race condition where Sky and the TV often turn on before the amp auto switches to Sky, leaving me looking at a blank screen. I am now in the habit of turning everything on by hitting the Sky button on the remote, and then press it again after a few seconds if the amp hasn’t switched; that seems foolproof and is easy enough to explain to visitors!

I have to do exactly the same, Sky off, wait for the amp to click, then power up sky.I also find there’s a race condition where Sky and the TV often turn on before the amp auto switches to Sky, leaving me looking at a blank screen. Great , thanks. A tad annoyed as the Pioneer worked perfectly no matter in which order things were switched on.
Can I just confirm that neither of you can switch everything on \ off with the Sky Q remote? If you do, any idea what code to use? else, time for a Harmony remote to make life easier.

I can turn everything off and on from the Q remote. A long press on the Q power button to turn off the LG TV; the TV automatically turns off the Denon amp via HDMI; then another short press on the remote to turn off the Q box. Turning things on is similar, effectively one press on the "Sky" logo on the Q remote to power up the Sky box, the amp and the TV, via the miracle of HDMI-CEC, then (sometimes) one more press on the Sky remote to force the Denon to switch to the Sky input if things happened in the wrong order on startup.
I know HDMI CEC can be a nightmare when it doesn't work, but it does make controlling the amp much easier, as you just need to programme the Sky remote to control your TV.

Exactly the same here with a Panasonic TV and Pioneer AVR - the inter-device CEC controls work well.I know HDMI CEC can be a nightmare when it doesn't work, but it does make controlling the amp much easier, as you just need to programme the Sky remote to control your TV.
Unlike the ARC, but that's for another day.
