Mid range ANC Over ear Headphones....

Looking at Sennheiser 4.50BTNC and JBL 650....

I know the real answer is Sony XM or Bose, but unwilling to spend that sort of cash for the useage.....

Any thoughts ?

I quite liked my AKG N60NC headphones I had for a while and they sit in your price band. They are on ear though, not over ear.

After about 3hrs though I found they pressed on my ears a little (I do have a larger head). It's s fine if you're not planning to use them for extended periods.

As I wanted to wear my headphones all day (and wasnt bothered about NC) I opted for a set of "old fashioned" wired over ear headphones (B&W P7 wired) a year or two back and haven't looked back since.

I was bought some JBL650s just before Christmas and I'm really pleased with them. The ANC is good on the train and battery life seems excellent.

Interestingly, after many,many hours of tubes, Ive decided to trial the Sony XM3's.......I'll try the others I mentioned as well, and the Bose, but the XM's do pack a lot into them.

I say trial, I mean play with in shop.....If not, then Amazon...

I'd be wary of trying stuff in shops. John lewis seem about the best, but most places the headphones on trial are absolutely shagged as knob heads go in and blast them until they're annihilated.

I got the WH-1000XM3 for Christmas and initial usage seems great. Can barely hear the kids or dogs.

Mostly use it indoors rather than on public transport though.

Same here.Primarily to reduce impact noise and screaming kids from the neighbours from hell upstairs....

Well it works with my kids in the same room so you should be fine downstairs.

Not bad at all. But then they should be at £250.

There’s a fair amount of flexibility for EQ and the like in the downloadable phone app but I’ve only had them 2 days so bit early to tell.

Played with a pretty worn set in JL this arvo, the ANC is pretty impressive.

Hard to say just how good the sound is , as only used phone as source, and obvs havnt got the app to adjust it.

My primary use will be with the PC , either tethered or BT, so should be better than a phone anyway ?

Build quality doesnt quite match the price tag I thought, but it is what it is.

Just waitiing to hear what a friend who works for JL can buy them for, but looks like I will be getting a pair.

I've just got some Sony WH-CH700N for £70 and I'm really happy with them. ANC seems good and the ability to adjust the sound with the app is really handy. I upgraded from a Phillips pair I've had a few years due to their ear cups being too small, the Sony ones totally cover my ears so they're far better

Maybe a bit low end for your tastes but I collect justify over £100 for some. Maybe worth a punt to save some beer tokens?

Running them in, but the ANC is very good.

Had mine for 9 months now. Use them whenever I'm travelling or when the wife and kids are watching trash TV.

I wouldn't be without them. Enjoy!
