Assistance for a TV Buying newbie
Discussion
Genuinely been happy with various hand-me-downs over the years (or have simply gone without for various periods) so know very little about the current market and features, but have recently moved into my own place, and now spending 23 hours a day cooped up, I could do with something to point the sofa at..!
First question... size? I don't really watch any terrestrial TV, dabble with a bit of Netflix and Xbox and watch a few films, so not a die-hard user by any means, but want something suitable for the room without dominating the space (its a reasonably compact living/dining room, circa 3.5m x 4.3m).
I'm weighing up either a 43 or 49 inch at the moment. The alcove, adjacent to the chimney breast it's going in is 201cm wide, so want something that looks right, without being too small and 'lost'. The plan is to wall mount it above a mid-century sideboard, which will be reasonably long but quite low.
Viewing angles: Set back in the alcove (only about 36cm from the chimney breast) I recon the viewing angle at it's most will be about 56degrees from perpendicular in the center of the TV to the dining area. Is that still sensible to mount it flush on the wall, or will it need an arm to get a half-decent view?
The sofa is closer to being perpendicular (30ish degrees), so happy to accept a reasonable compromise for sitting at the dining table.
Lastly.. the actual TV..? I was thinking Samsung, as I've always been happy with their monitors etc and friends have got some nice curved TVs from the last few years from them. Sound-wise I'll probably end up with a soundbar or some speakers, so happy to compromise that feature on the TV for now. Budget around 500ish, stretching up to 600 if that first one is worth the extra.
Was thinking something like one of these, but welcome to suggestions or comments:
https://www.richersounds.com/tv-projectors/samsung... (either in 43 or 49inch, at £599)
Is that proportionately better than something like this? https://www.richersounds.com/tv-projectors/samsung...
or this? https://www.richersounds.com/tv-projectors/samsung...
Thanks! Normally I'd aimlessly pester them in in the shop in Richer Sounds or similar, but that obviously isn't an option at the moment!

Get this.

A 43” will seem big for about 10mins!
Also if you’re mounting in the manner you describe, I’d suggest a sturdy cantilever wall mount.
That’ll take care of it

I'm in the market for a couple of new TV's for my new house, I'm thinking a 50" for the Lounge and a 32" for the Bedroom.
They certainly won't be Samsung's, I'm quite struck on the LG's, but what I can't fathom is why there are so many different versions of (for example) an LG 50" UHD telly. Model numbers of 7400, 7450, 7500, 7600 etc, what is the actual difference apart from the price???
Oh and can someone also explain why they produce a similar range of 49" tvs alongside the 50" range???
