Unfortunately run through the wall behind my TV is a C7 type cable, changing or removing it would be significant work due to how its been done.

Having received a new Sony TV it doesn't have the removable type C7 I expected for an easy swap but a fixed plug.

Would employing the below two adapters get round this problem?

How handy are you? Simplest idea might be to chop the end of the cable and fit a single gang socket on that.

Would provide you with a socket no matter what the future holds, unless of course you are desperate not to modify the existing end

Can you wire a 13A plug/socket? if so buy one of these, cut the female end off & wire a 13A trailing socket on to it:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Baolongking-IEC320-Power-...

Or do as suggested above & convert the lead coming through the wall. I'd say the two items you linked to would work though if you don't want to get into wiring.

Does your new TV need an earth? Has the mains plug got a metal earth pin? If not, cut it off / use adapters as above.
If it has a real earth pin you need to retain it and connect it. Otherwise you run the risk of any cable connected Eg audio, giving an unpleasant tingle when touched.

Modern tv’s very rarely need an earth now and also have very low power consumption.

You should be fine just cutting heads off and connecting the leads together. Providing they match of course.

Thanks for the help everyone, checking the Sony it looks like its got a proper metal earth.

I've got the parts to wire a socket or 1 gang extension should I favour one over the other?

I would be wary of lopping off mains connectors hard wired to the panel (mine is), warranty and all that. Once warranty is out I would do it all day.

Got any pics to be sure what the connections are? Personally I would connector up a custom length of mains with socket and plug, earth included in the cable for future use. Be wary of any joints that can pull, insulation tape or tie wraps depending can ensue no sudden blackouts.

Not sure what you mean. Assuming you mean putting something on the cable through the wall I'd use something like this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Masterplug-Socket-Trailin...

However, if the cable through the wall has a C7 connector where are you going to get an earth from as it's probably only 2 core cable?

Can you cut the end off the current one and use the remainder as a draw cable for some twin and earth? Then put a plug on one end and a socket on the other...

This is what I’m working with, looks like neither are a go without an earthing solution.

Look at the Sony information label: does it have a double insulated symbol (two little rectangles one inside the other)? I've just looked at mine & it does, & even though it has a fixed lead with a 13A plug on it the cable is only two core - it's a flat oval shape not round.

If it is the same then you can cut the C7 off & put a connector on the end but do not use a 13A trailing socket as somone in the future might plug in a device needing an earth. Use a 2 pole in line connector like those used on lawnmowers:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/line-Impact-Resistant-Con...

It's a bit bodgy but it's safe enough.
