Good morning, I am wanting to buy something to allow me to wall mount a tv in the living room and have a Sky box, PS4 (mainly used for streaming) and Bluray player under my stairs.

I presume I will need some form of AV reciever and then a cable running from the receiver to the TV, but don’t know what to search for.

If it helps I have an old Phillips Pronto 990 which I could use as a remote control but would prefer not to as it was a bit of a faff and I never got it working exactly how I wanted it!

Is there any way of doing this wirelessly while still being able to show 4k footage?

Thanks for reading and any help greatly appreciated

No, you cannot transmit video wirelessly; you'll need a cabled connection of some sort.

Ok, i thought this may be the case.

Can i use something like this

To make it only one cable to the tv from multiple sources?

If so how do i then control the different sources?

Usually the AV amp should be able to control all the hdmi devices connected to it.
In that instance, most have a remote input for an IR eye on a wire that is mounted outside of the cabinet to allow the remote control to still operate rotate

(Not always the case if certain brands wont talk to each other over HDMI tho)

Can you run a network cable from the sky box to the TV? I’ve got my sky box in the cupboard under the stairs then use a HDMI over CAT 5 send and receive box to send the signal to the TV. I use a magic eye to change channel.

I should be able to as it is a new build so the plan is to get the cabling ready (with a spare redundant cable just incase) before the walls and ceilings are completed.

It works well for me but won’t go to 4K. I’ve got two of these and a hdmi splitter so HD sky TV in the living room and kitchen:

How long will the cable run be from the TV from the cupboard and what are you using for sound? Have you got a sound bar or surround setup or just using the built in speakers on the TV?

If just using the TV you could consider directly connecting your devices to the TV with fibre optic HDMI cables, no issues with 4K over distance and should come in cheaper than a receiver (depending on the length you need). Still a good idea to run some Cat6 cable as well though just in case. Look into a decent Harmony hub/remote instead relying on HDMI CEC.....

About 10-15 metres away.

The other option I am thinking is pop the tv on the wall Next to the stairs and just punch through with the cables behind the tv which would give the same impression without much hassle but retains the control issue.

Are they not all controlled via bluetooth anyway?

Have you tried standing in your cupboard with the remote and seeing if it works OK?

Then you just have to worry about video signal. I would have the TV on the wall behind the cupboard personally.

The PS4 controller is Bluetooth and works through walls fine (I have this setup). Not sure if he meant he uses the PS4 for streaming and has a separate bluray player, but the PS4 does both, so only the Sky remote to worry about. Do Sky remotes not control TV's or vice versa?

The sky remote will control the tv apart from changing input.

Not sure about controlling the box through the wall but i guess if big enough

Sky Q is a bluetooth remote.

The mini boxes are infa red as standard but you can buy a bluetooth remote for them and use them.

What TV is it? Many have IR repeaters built into them.

Not sure if you’re referring to SkyQ, but the old Sky HD remotes will change TV input - press TV then Help cycles through inputs.

Well if it is Sky Q you could simply hide the box and your PS4 behind the set anyway, you don't need to have line of sight.
