1980s Technics hi-fi

Evening All, I know everything moves on,
but I fancy buying some old (approx 35years) separates. I've been looking at ebay and the good looking stuff seems to sell pretty quickly,
so I can't be the only one who wants to own it again. However at this age, there's no way to verify how well things have been looked after. And there's no comeback if it all dies a couple of months down the road. Am I being naive and nostalgic....? Thanks guys

Timely post op!
I inherited 2 technics bits of kit :
An SL150 mk2 turntable with v posh arm setup
And an SU-7300 amp. Both in ace condition. 15 yrs later (last month) I decided to waste the long lockdown evenings trying to find the matching tuner (ST-7300) and cassette deck (lots of options but I found an Rs615) all off ebay/gumtree.
Quick wipe and a mini project to find some replacement VU bulbs (stay warm yellow or go led blue???), and despite not needing a tuner at all really, I'm well chuffed with the look of the setup.
Cassette and tuner were 40 and 80 quid respectively and in great condition.
Am sure there are better versions and options (SU-7900 is a more powerful amp for example) but tbh I wanted matching wooden sides and dimensions rather than volume).
The amazing thing is how well built these bits of kit are - I think they will go on for ever!
I also had a sharp optonica sm-1616 and had to decide which set to complete. The sharp has an thermal issue of some sort though so technics won.
Hth.

I have just pretty much just completed buying an early 90’s complete stack of Sony ES components.
I made the decision to pay a little extra on the things that might break like the CD and cassette deck and went for stuff from www.thehifiguy.co.uk - tested, serviced and with a 6 month guarantee. Both the cd and cassette were mint condition, boxed with remotes, not bad for 30 years old!

Just nostalgic.... a bit like those guys that go out & pay silly money for XR3s becasue they always wanted on in the 80s but didn;t have the money!but I fancy buying some old (approx 35years) separates. I've been looking at ebay and the good looking stuff seems to sell pretty quickly,

I've still got my Technics amp from that period though!
