Reasonable speakers and digital media for Moon by SIM Audio
Discussion
My poor brother in law died recently. Just so happens that literally weeks before his sudden and tragic death that he splashed out on his dream music system, a complete Moon by SIM Audio system - CD Transport DAC 260D, Amplifier 240i, and a dinky MiND streamer. There were some very high end speakers too, though my sister sold these off. They were unopended and cost more than £2,500.
Long story short - my sister wants me to have the Moon equipment as she knew how much care and desire went into buying them, and knows I will look after them too. There is no question of me selling them on, though I am really not a hifi person. I hardly even have the radio on in the car. The kit is therefore way above my league and I don't even have a hifi having flogged my Arcam/Yamaha/B&W stuff nearly 2 years ago.
So...here I am...ready to receive this kit that some people would really appreciate for what it is. For me, it is more sentimental. I dislike big speakers kicking around the house, but need to find something that will not represent a big investment that are not 'black boxes'.
I am thinking of book shelf speakers - something like Monitor silvers at £649, or B&W 606s/607s, amd see how I get on. The attraction is that they are available in a choice of non-black finishes.
I therefore wanted to check the Pistonheads pulse as to whether these are a reasonable buy for my purposes as I do not want to splash thousands on something never to use them.
Also - this MiND network streamer is all new to me. When I had hifi, it was a FM tuner, cassette player and CD. Digital is outside of my knowledge other than I have an iTunes account to which I ripped my CD collection about 12 years ago! What would be a good way to make use of the system rather than feeding it a CD collection that really ought to go to Music Magpie?
Many thanks.

If you want a good pair of small speakers you can try the suggested ones, but the best small speaker on a reasonable budget i've heard is the Dali Menuet.Try to have a listen if you can, they are remarkable for the size with some nice finishes - gloss white is really nice.
Don't know much about the player, a quick look at what i think is the correct one on the website is it looks like a fairly standard network player.
Can play music stored on your network (on a NAS drive etc) or can play music from the higher end streaming services (Tidal,Deezer and Qobuz), most are about £20 per month for CD quality music streaming. Contol via an App.

It really depends on your budget.
You'll need to spend a bit to get the best out of the system you've acquired it initially starters with 'now much' of a bit you want to spend.
Also if you are considering bookshelf then possibly also stands for them.
Lots out there, just depends on budget and desire as to what you end up with.

Thanks for replies all. Very much appreciated.
Yes. it all might sound odd. Like being given a Porsche when you don't drive. However, I am going to give it a go.
like has been said, it is good kit to pair with something that does not marry up. Going to set my budget at around £650, but could buy used speakers of course. Combing Ebay for local options and seeing what kit is available, but don't know the brands other than B&W, Celestion and KEF. Hence, suggestions and guidance with recommendations are helpful.
That Moon ACE system does look good. One of those would do me!
