Sony HT-RT3 Soundbar and Sub Separate Connections

Hi, never posted in this sub-forum, here goes anyway.

I have currently got an LG 70UN71006LA) TV (wall mounted) and would like to add a Sony HT-RT3 5:1 system.

I have a HDMI routed in-wall to where the sub/amp will be based direct to the TV, so a connection to the main 'black-box' is not an issue.

My question is, could the Soundbar be connected direct to the TV and not the sub/amp black box?
