I've got a cheap projector set up in the garage for treadmill running, I inherited it from someone and it does the job for what I need.

What I do need is a cheap amp and speaker combo for sound. The projector outputs sound through a headphone socket, and I've got a cable to convert that to RCA for an amp. I'll sort out some speakers myself, but can anyone recommend a cheap, small amp to handle this? I'm probably going to go for 2 standard stereo speakers, or maybe 2.1; certainly nothing expensive or fancy for my needs.

Or is a soundbar a better option?

Traditionally you would run sound from your source device directly into your amp, rather than bounce it through a projector.
AV Receivers handle this - input from DVD, tuner etc, and output to the projector. Usually HDMI these days.

A soundbar may be a good solution, and perhaps look for one with a wireless subwoofer.
No idea of budget, but 2nd hand worth looking at.

Ta. Budget is £200ish, I've got both an Amazon stick and DVD player feeding the protector but 99% of the time it'll be the Amazon stick I'll use.

Ta, food for thought. I don't want a huge AV receiver, it just seems so unnecessary - I had looked at some of those mini amps on Amazon for £50, but I hadn't thought of the suggestion above of sending the sound straight from the source to the amp

Some PC speakers might be a good option, they're cheap and you'd get good enough sound. They normally work directly off a 3.5mm jack.

Something by Logitech is usually a good bet
