About to buy pair of speakers for the kitchen. As it is hard to demo, then I was after advice from anyone that install's these for a living etc. I'm looking at either Kef Ci200.2CR, Bose 791 or Q Acoustics QI80. It will be used for spotify streaming via yamaha network amp for pop/dance music etc. I may also add a spare BK sub in a kitchen cabinet I have.
Boses are far too expensive for what they are.
Don't know the KEF in-ceilings ,but i've never been a fan of the Uni-Q drive units.
Q Acoustics make good value products, i'm not familiar with their in-celings, but i've looked up your suggested products and the freq response looks poor (-3dB at 63 Hz from an 8 inch bass unit?? would expect much lower than that.
Equivalent Monitor Audio (CS180) goes down to 48 Hz which is more like it.
Try and find somewhere to buy Paradigm speakers from (they are superb), but not many dealers.

I spent a fair bit of time listening to demos of various ceiling speakers by Monitor Audio, Bose, Polk and others. However, ended up going with Origin Acoustics on the advice of a friend who is an AV installer.
Really pleased with the results. Mostly used for streaming music via Sonos, and all driven by Sonos amps. The single stereo speakers and outdoor speakers also sound surprisingly good.
I was advised to pack the back of the speakers with lambswool as they were being installed (available by the bag in B&Q) to enhance the bass a bit.

So that is the kill or even contradictory question. Would i use my best speaker for just back ground music? If you're sitting down to listen to music or its a party space where the sound get wound up, that's when and where you spend your money.
IMO, Good, branded speakers are hard to differentiate at this end of the market, my contractor go to are Monitor Audio and then as you move up the requirement factor, Monitor still stay there but for me Sonnance come in, but heard good things about Origin and Paradigm. But we are doubling the budget for their mid-rangers.

You have to differentiate between the Bose Pro stuff which is superb, from the Bose personal which is patchy (some of the products are great, like the Quiet Comfort headphones, some others are poor value).And yes there will be a sub somewhere.
