Expanding 5.1 AVR system - Zone 2/multiroom/wireless?
Discussion
My kitchen is a large 'L' shape, an extension by the previous owner which also has cables channelled into the wall for a 5.1 system. The placement isn't the best, but as I had a 5.1 AVR system already I thought it best to use them as they were there. This works fine, but the sound field is in the 'snug' area, not the main kitchen.
The TV on the bracket swings round so we can watch it in the kitchen area, but all the sound is focused in the snug. It's the same for music, it can be on loud in that area but by the time the oven/microwave/kettle/extractor hood are going you can't hear it all that well in the kitchen.
I need to find a way of broadcasting it into the kitchen, but preferably a stereo mix so I can keep the AVR in Dolby digital 5.1 in the snug area. i.e I'd prefer not to connect it up as 7.1 then have to leave the AVR on extended stereo mode.
The other issue I have is wiring, where the receiver currently is doesn't leave me with many options regards wiring as the wall next to it is solid, not stud (structural part of extension).
Is there such thing as a wireless add on system that could say go into the aux output of the AVR and wirelessly send the signal to a powered set of speakers in the kitchen area? (I have plenty of power sockets available). Or, is there a replacement AVR that has this built in? I did wonder if it would all be capable of staying in phase if some speakers are wired and some are wireless, but I've seen plenty of soundbars with wireless rears.
I understand now the best way of achieving this would be Sonos Beam/Sub/One set up as a surround system, then a couple of One's in the kitchen set as a different room but linked. I have this setup in my bedroom/en suite and it works great, I can control them independently but they play the same stuff at the same time. I don't think I can achieve this with the Sonos Port as that's just for Airplay, not the TV input. I want to retain the 5.1 system I currently have so need to find a way to make this work rather than ripping it all out and spending a fortune on Sonos!
Help much appreciated
