What would be the best device to use to control spotify for sonos ones'? Do sonos do a control remote like they did a few years ago?

No. It’s all app based now, so use a phone or tablet or Alexa for example if you prefer voice control.

Sonos control has got progressively worse with each release to the point that the best Spotify control is to dump sonos and just get something that supports Spotify Connect.

A far cry from the days when the sonos app was excellent and brought together all your media in one place.

Yes I agree. I had the original zone player with the large handheld remote back in 2005.
If I buy a tablet or amazon fire can I set it so that it always comes out sonos and not the tablet speakers?

Fire tablet only 35 quid at the moment so think that will solve the problem.

The Sonos app is one of the main reasons we use the Sonos gear. I cannot think of any way to make it more user friendly and bring all your media in one place! It’s as iif we are talking about two different products.
