System for vinyl and headphones
Discussion
Bit of a weird request here. I've got a set of good phones (Shure SRH1540) and I've just inherited a pile of vinyl. I don't have a hi-fi!
Looking for recommendations really. Am I better with a dedicated headphone amp or "just" a regular stereo amp?
Budget wise, I guess maybe £300/400 ish for the amp and turntable, suggestions please!
I was thinking along the lines of this:

I'd go up a bit on the turntable - something from Pro-Ject perhaps.

If you go for a normal amp, you can add speakers later of course. e.g. https://www.richersounds.com/hi-fi/amplifiers-rece...

Yes looks good (colour wouldn't be my choice but that's subjective!) I can get this for £207 after the voucher code thing...seems decent?

I have the Essential III - it's a great turntable.
Thanks, just ordered that!
That Cambridge axa25 doesn’t have a headphone out. The 35 does but it’s up to £300.
Which is almost as much as this:

Hmmmmm

Yes my own slippery slope was Turntable -> better speakers -> better amp -> replace CD player too That Cambridge axa25 doesn’t have a headphone out. The 35 does but it’s up to £300.

The cambridge audio duo is a headphone amp with a built in phono stage - it can also be used as a phono pre-amp if you want to add an amplifier and speakers later. Pro-ject also do versions.
As you will be using it for headphones primarily I'd focus, as you are, on a headphone amp with an inbuilt phono stage as a standard integrated amp at this price will have a poor headphone output in comparison.

I'd consider a Schitt Mani phono stage, coupled with a Schitt Vali 2+ and get the Schitt Stand. The Valhalla 2 does not have a phono stage, so you need a phono preamp.
When you get some spare cash I would consider upgrading the stylus to a 2m Blue as it's just a nice step up in sound quality.

I'd add the Mani and get the Schitt Cable to connect them, as it's made to measure and good quality.
UK dealer is out of stock of just about everything so I cancelled the vali 2 order with him and just ordered the valhalla 2 and the mani from the US. I'll get stung with vat and import duty.Scope growth already, this is going to be an expensive hobby
