Turning a 5.1 system wireless
Discussion
Morning all,
I've googled the hell out of this and struggled to find a proper answer.
Has anyone come across a way to turn wired speakers wireless?
Essentially I have a 5.1 system i love and having moved into my new house, the front room isn't wired for speakers and I'm trying to avoid running cables down the wall or cutting a channel in the wall...
Any help welcome...
Thanks
Tom

It doesn't exist. Speakers require signal and power ... signal can be received wirelessly but not power. Just live without your rear channels. I've googled the hell out of this and struggled to find a proper answer.

You can get wireless adapters for your existing speakers. I don't have any experience of them, but they do exist. For example, https://petertyson.co.uk/monitor-audio-wr-1-wirele..., although these ones do look quite chunky.
I'm using Yamaha MusicCast gear, a RX-V485 AV receiver with 2 MusicCast 20s acting as wireless rear speakers with no extra adapters. Prices of the speakers have risen considerably since I bought them, and I think the receiver has been replaced by a newer model, but for films and tv it just works. Games aren't so good, so there might be some buffer that's disabled when playing games.
I solved the problem of hiding the power cables by buying some bookcases to put behind the sofa. The speakers sit on the bookcases instead of being wall mounted, and the cables are hidden behind the furniture. The speaker position might not be where audiophiles recommend it, but it works for me.
