I can’t afford a house that TV would fit in.

Not that I'm bitter because it's way over my budget and house size, but ironically you could spend £1.2 million on a TV like that, but end up with crap sound: There is no where to put the centre speaker apart from on the floor or right up to the ceiling.

Big TVs aren't acoustically transparent so you can't have the three speakers behind the screen like a proper cinema screen does. Best change I ever made to my set up, even if it's really at the poor end compared to this.

I don't really see the advantage vs moving your chair closer to the telly?

If you really need to fit 100 people in front of it, isn't that a solved problem?

Saying that, I have been enjoying watching films in 4k VR and filling up the whole FOV, very involving.

True...but the centre speaker is still going to end up a long way from where the sound is 'meant' to be coming from.

Not a problem on more modest 65" (or whatever) TVs, but it gets worse the bigger the screen is: Even a 133" (projector) screen I had with the speakers below had this problem and I found it become noticeable, let alone something this big. Ironically spending this amount doesn't guarantee 'the best' in sound and vision.

I'm probably being a grump though. biggrin

That’s true. You would have thought for over a mill they could get round that but guess not

Does this mean we need multiple center speakers behind acoustically transparent screens?

Ridiculous. 300 inch is perfectly adequate, any bigger than that it just going larger for the sake of it.

We have a 133" screen in my cinema. It's not as immersive as the 120" screen we had before. God knows what looking at this would be like as any realism would be lost while everything looks like Land of the Giants.

It's consumer electronics. Valueless in a year.

We'd need at least 7 - one for each house on each day of the week tongue out

In old money 325" is 27ft.

A full sized snooker table is 12ft long.

I know where you are coming from but we regularly design systems and calibrate then to overcome this. Its the same with the Samsung Wall stuff and other big TVs.

I agree with you though - a large projector screen seems to have this market covered and would sound better!

Imagine the anxiety for the poor sod tasked with transporting and installing that behemoth. £1.2 MILLION. Best be careful with it, then...

Not quite in the same league as this but I used to deliver TVs. I had a B&O Avant (£8Kish) in the back of a Volvo V70 and took a corner too enthusiastically. The resultant scratch down the front panel was horrifying. Fortunately, the company I worked for had an account with a body shop that specialized in BMWs and they were able to make the TV perfect as B&O used BMW paint colours.

The TV was sold with its history fully disclosed.
