I recently moved house and now trying to set up various bits of mostly retro hi fi.

In amongst the lot are a Naim 150 power amp with 5 pin SNAIC cable to connect to Naim pre-amp - I don't as of yet have a Naim pre-amplifier so is it possible to connect to either a NAD 302/310 which can be used as a pre-amplifier.

I have tried googling but am confused with some say it is not advisable, etc. if OK, can anybody please point me to the exact cable i need.

Much appreciated.

I’m away at the moment, so can’t reply properly.

My advice, if nothing is offered here, is to join Pinkfishmedia and ask in their hifi room. Good bunch of guys.

ETA, I’ve used a few non-Naim pre amps with my NAP180, so it’s easily doable.

I don’t see why not, I used to have a Linn Kairn pre-amp connected to a single 250 amp, worked fine; the Kairn ended up connected to a Naxos 2-4 active crossover feeding two 250s, again fine. My dealer did make up the cable for me though.

Something like this

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NAIM-5-Pin-Din-Twist-Lo...

But please check your power amp’s din set up matches.

Thanks for the link Tony but they sell two cables - one for input from sources such as CD and the other that might be the right one - will email them to ask specifics but just never got round to it as of yet. Just don’t want to fry any circuits!

In that case, join Pinkfishmedia and ask in there. You'll be given good, solid advice, and you might even find someone willing to sell you a used cable at a good price!
