The set up we have is Sky + box in the loft with co-ax to 2 TV’s and one directly connected by HDMI, all TV’s have magic eye for remote control use

Recently remotes have been painfully slow in use with several prods on the button, pressure getting stronger and stronger with each infuriating push, this can get very annoying when fast forwarding as you fly past the adverts them have to rewind, etc etc backwards and forwards

Remote batteries are all ok, and the same problem occurs with all TV’s. sometimes we can’t control anything and give up

Tried re-booting the box several times and spent the afternoon on messenger with Sky who came up with nothing new and want to charge me £65 for an engineer to visit so I can watch a service I pay for, and then will only offer 90 day guarantee if they fix it.

Anyone else had this problem and can offer a solution? Would it be easier just to buy a new box? Or just bin off Sky as it’s now giving me the hump

Sorry for the long drawn out post, and thanks in advance for any advice

My money’s on it being magic eye related.

We have a magic eye on each TV so anything at the “box” I could check?

Sure I’ve got a spare magic eye somewhere, will dig it out try it

Thanks

Which remote is it?

The old big grey/silver one, or the black Sky Q one?

If it's the old one, probably new remote time.

I’d remove them from the equation completely first. They can go wonky, they’re susceptible to IR interference, all sorts. It’s more to confirm if you get lag in a ‘vanilla’ setup.

But if you look at the sky forums there are a plethora of other suggestions, like rebuilding the planner, checking the box firmware, etc.

If its all remotes on all rooms, then it is the Main power supply in the actually box.

Clear indication it is dying. Sometimes a full power off reset works but not usually for long before it starts to slow down again.

Changed so many over.

If its only one box you can still do the same thing wifh a Sky Q box. Its running multiple Q boxes over the coax that is harder to do the old sky HD / + way
