I've got a 55 inch Sony XF9005 bought at the beginning of 2019 after plenty of hours of online research and standing comparing TVs in JL. I've been very pleased with the TV especially for sport and the overall picture quality to my eyes.

Fast forward to last month when the remote wouldn't work. JL sent a service engineer today to replace the IR remote receiver in the TV. He did this and it's fixed the issue. However on reassembling the TV he broke the screen !
My questions are:
1) If a screen replacement can be found - the engineer thought it doubtful, will the TV be as good as a stock one or
2) If JL authorise a replacement what equivalent TV should I be holding out for.

The one they will give you if they can't repair it will be the one closest to the position in their range at the time that you bought yours was, when compared to their current 55" offerings:

https://www.johnlewis.com/browse/electricals/telev...

I'd guess that will be the Sony Bravia KD55X89J or perhaps the Sony Bravia XR XR55X90J if they are feeling generous.

I'm hoping it will be the 90J as it's also a FALD.

Has anyone experienced the replacement route via JL and advise if it's straightforward or requires the haggling skill of an Arabian bazaar. I'm hoping I should be in a strong position as their contractor broke it

Thanks for that. Required a small amount of negotiations with JL but got a satisfactory outcome 👍

Jl just replaced the screen for me under warranty on a faulty Samsung.

Part came as complete front assembly, took him 20 mins start to finish.

I'm afraid the screen was not available for my Sony but effectively have replaced mine with the current improved model for £30 plus get another 5 years of warranty
