I got a good retail deal (£240) for a pair of New SL ones so I decided to add a pair of rear surrounds to my Sonos system.

Where is best to place them? I have both a pair of flat wall brackets & height adjustable stands on order. The sofa whilst facing the TV on the opposite wall at eye level with the ARC above it is slightly offset to the left. There is no way to position the TV or the sofa so it is symmetrical to the TV

With the stands, its quick & easy and the can be positioned at or above head height, to the sides or behind the sofa - this is quick and easy.

The wall mounts would be slightly trickier as I want to fish the cables down the wall cavity so I only get one shot at this before I then have to start repairing holes in the freshly painted wall. If I go to the side of the sofa, I would have to go straight down as there is a stud/solid plaster bead roughly where the ends of the sofa are, this would mean the trunking for the cables at the bottom would protrude beyond the back of the sofa slightly.

My preferred option would be behind the sofa roughly where they are now as it is easier to mooove the hight of the pictures if needed.

Might not be so easy to fish straight down the cavity as there will (should) be horizontal noggins between the studs

No its a solid brick wall, I can go all the way down to about 2" above the skirting where there is a horizontal plaster bead

I could have done with the vertical dabs being a bit further in so I could go down the wall on an angle if the the best place for the speakers ends up being to the sides of the sofa so I can hide the trunking better. Can't have everything I guess!

Why didn't you buy the stands, they are on offer, £150 and are the correct height for the SL

I did. I ordered both a pair of adjustable stands and some wall brackets. The stands are 83cm tall minimum like the Sonos ones which would exclude them from being placed behind the sofa so they would have to sit to the sides as the sofa back is taller

I've got two Play Ones on Sanus stands- very good quality and screw attachment for safety.
