Hi folks

I like watching movies on my laptop. However, the sound quality is not very good

Is there anything I can do in order to improve this ?

Thanks

Make/model of laptop might be useful - mostly it will be down to the built-t in speakers being crap ….. wink. so either a decent set of headphones, or even an external sound card.amp then add in a speaker/headphone combination.

Hi folks
Thanks for your replies.
It's a Lenovo Idea pad 320. I've never bought headphones but if I do would one of the issues be that I may not be able to hear anything else going on around me ?

Recent headphones have “transparency”. That means you can hear what is going on around you.

I have B&O H9i headphones and no laptop speakers are going to beat them. You can also get the Sony 1000’s which are equally rated, if not better.

If budgets don’t stretch that far there are many other options that will sound great and offer the transparency mode. Even AirPods do this.

If you’re watching a movie, that’s a good thing?

Headphones or speakers would be the obvious answer.
What laptop do you have. The sound quality varies massively with some laptops being barely acceptable and some not too bad at all.

Is your laptop used on a desk or somewhere else. Do you have a budget in mind?

If it's used in a fixed location then some of the edifier speakers are decent budget choices, my mate has a pair of s2000 edifiers which are surprisingly good IMO and I say that as a bit of a HiFi snob.

There is a good chance you will get lag between the picture and sound if you use a bluetooth speaker. One you can plug in the headphone socket would be better.

You can get mini soundbars that use the headphone socket and draw power from the usb port.
