I've just acquired one of these cables in order to plug in my iphone to aux output in my 2012 911 (has bluetooth but not streaming etc) which is fine allowing me to run Waze and Spotify simultaneously (Waze map/alerts on the phone screen and Waze alerts/directions/Spotify playing through the Car BOSE) but it doesn't seem to charge the phone which drains quite quickly running these apps.

Does this sound right? Am I faced with occasionally unplugging this cable and using a charging cable for a while, thus losing the Waze and Spotify? This will be a right pain on long journeys!

Have googled it and can't see a definitive answer anywhere nor on the spec sheet of the cable!!

Yes, it's quite common for the Lighting cable to not have the charge part connected.
There may be another cable that does have this connected or look at using a Bluetooth module and just a USB port connected to 12v for charging.

I've used both of these before and it solves your problem:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Headphone-Lightning-Split...

Essentially one cable for audio and another for power

If you're using an adapter to connect the lightning port on your phone to a 3.5mm aux input, then it physically can't charge your phone. That 3.5mm aux port is effectively 'audio only' - it doesn't have power available.

Yeah thanks chaps - I actually found the Belkin 'splitter' one like that you linked to - however it was £28!!! Am I paying for the Belkin 'made for iphone' experience I wonder or is it actually a bl@@dy rip off!

Has been delivered so will plug it all in and see what happens.

Works like a charm and half the price of the Belkin
