Home gym audio setup advice

Hi all,

I'm lucky enough to have a home gym above my garage, and i want to upgrade the (currently woeful) audio setup.

Atm, i play music through the speaker on a tv, so its not great.

What id like is a wireless speaker in each corner of the gym, and some way of playing music to the speakers (currently use a smartphone, and a dvd player for cds). I fully admit, i know nearly nothing about home audio!

Please point me in the right direction!

Room size is something like a double garage footprint

There are plenty of power sockets dotted about the room, so power isnt a problem

Wireless speakers tend to be small single units rather than ones that you can stick in each corner. You would be forever having to get them down to recharge them.

If it were me I'd get a stereo pair of JBL Control 1s and a bluetooth amp that can also take an input from your DVD player.

One of these in each corner, can be configured as a stereo pair - there's a version with Alexa included as well I believe, plus the option to add a sub if you really want to upset the neighbours

Have a look on Facebook Marketplace, I needed something in my garage gym so got an amp and speakers for under 50 quid I think. Added a Bluetooth receiver to it to play Spotify from my phone and it's bang on, sounds better than my Sonos stuff I have elsewhere.





There's always decent stuff on there for not much money that people want to get rid of so well worth a look.

A couple of Marshall Stanmore 2s paired up would be excellent.

Not cheap but excellent. Great looking speakers too.

OSD Audio do a couple of Bluetooth On-Wall Outdoor Speakers that could work for you.

Just give them 12v power and they wake up with a BT connection.

I think similar to what's been said above if you get a bog standard Bluetooth receiver box, you can have a setup using any types of speaker you fancy (just connect left and right via RCA leads), that you can control via phone.

I like the sound of krk rokit 8s (work exceptionally well with more bassy/electronic/modern music) but they're a bit heavier so possibly bit more difficult to have up near the ceiling/will be better on floorstands. But they have inbuilt amplification and can get incredibly loud, whilst remaining very accurate in comparison to many midmarket hifi speakers. Smaller option (and much lighter) would be a rokit5 or more expensive vxt4s, but would lose out on the bass.

I've got more expensive studio monitors but they sound so flat and boring in comparison to the rokits I used to have. Rokits are more 'hi-fi' and they're brilliant at it, especially for the gym.

I’ve got Rokits for my DJ set up in the basement, they’re quite possibly the ‘punchiest’ speakers I’ve ever heard, they pump!

A pair would be a pricey option for a basic home gym set up though, as per previous poster said, get on marketplace and pick up an amp and speakers for a few quid plus a Bluetooth adapter. I’ve got an old technics amp and some JBL control one speakers in my office (plus Bluetooth) and it works a treat to stream radio/Spotify
